Arrowtown, a gold mining town first established in 1860 when gold was discovered nearby, thrives on its character.
In keeping with this, The Stables retains the heritage of the town, being erected in 1873 for Bendix Hallenstein, an early entrepreneur, for his horses.

The Stables still preserves the original workmanship and provides one of the best examples of stone stabling, being built of local schist and cemented with a pug mixture of lime and mud.

The Stables Restaurant allows you to experience the romantic ambiance, where you dine under Kauri beams enhanced by the open flames of the fire and candlelight.

Set amongst such historic characteristics it is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxed meal overlooking the Town Green and sample of fine wines and food.
